Parkinson's UK
Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson's. Because we're here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone. We bring people with Parkinson's, their carers and families together via our network of local groups, our website and free confidential helpline. Specialist nurses, our supporters and staff provide information on every aspect of Parkinson's. As the UK's Parkinson's support and research charity we're leading the work to find a cure, and we're closer than ever. We also campaign to change attitudes and demand better services. Our work is totally dependant on donations. Help us to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.

Walking across America

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and hopefully for donating as well.

We are walking the 3000 mile journey across America, from New York to LA. We are doing this in aid of CLIC Sargent and Parkinson's UK. No cars, no lifts, no public transport; just walking.

Kieran is walking in memory of his Granddad, John Paul O'Mahoney, and is raising money for Parkinson's UK. John was diagnosed with the disease in 2007 and sadly, after a long and drawn out struggle, lost his battle in late 2010.

Jack is walking for Stephanie Knight (http://www.stephknight.co.uk), who since she was 17, has had to battle with cancer. in 2010 her cancer went into remission, but Steph continued to raise money and awareness of teenage cancer, and has helped raise over £40,000.

Unfortunately in April 2012 Steph found out the cancer was back in the same part of her pelvis. Since then she has had to have her Pelvis, Hip and right leg removed; Throughout this Steph has always been positive and continued to raise money and awareness, to try to help others. When I asked Steph who she would like to benefit from this campaign, she suggested CLIC Sargent, who help young people with Cancer and their families.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for supporting this walk. With an average daily goal of 18 miles, we estimate the walk will take us around 6 months to complete, but it could be anything up to 9 months.  We hope to keep you informed via our blog, twitter and facebook.

We understand that people may be unable to donate to the campaign finacially, so in place of this we ask you to spread the word to as many people as possible.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this.
