Charlie Upton runs the London Marathon 2014
Hey there, you lovely person :)
As I type this I am immediately regretting this decision to run the London Marathon. I'm not even completely sure how long it is. Seriously how long is it?? So I hate running, (I should have opted to do another cycle challenge), in fact I vowed to myself never to take part in one of these marathons... ever, what with the dodgy knees and what couldcause me to have sudden flash backs of the forced school cross country runs, those many moons ago.- eeergh!
HOWEVER it's for a brilliant cause and something that is close to my heart. So no matter what, now I've committed I am going to complete it.
With an aging population osteoporosis is becoming more of an issue and is something that is likely to effect all of us at some point in our lives. It effects both the young and older generations and is found more commonly in woman than in men. (1:2 woman, 1:5 men).
My grandparents suffer from it and I have seen the effects it has had on their lives, the pain, the frustration and at some points, their loss of indepedance. I am trying to do the best I can to make people aware of this condition and to help people take action to help prevent this from happening to them. Exercise, eating healthy foods, intaking calcium and get that sensible amount of vitmin D can all help. All details can be found on The National Osteoprosis Society website here;
Please help me raise my £1700 target to help the research into osteoporosis to help find preventions and hopefully a cure. Anything donated is greatly appreciated. Don't forget to say yes to gift aid.
THANK-YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT
