Kids Company - Kids Company was founded by Camila Batmanghelidjh in 1996. We provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people suffering neglect and abuse. Many of the 13,500 children we reach have experienced severe and multiple trauma; often living in chronic deprivation, with little or no support, and facing the daily anxieties of caring for their family as the role of parent and child are reverse. The support we offer is tailored to the needs of each individual. We never give up on a child, whatever it takes. Every pound that you donate will make a lasting difference to a child’s life. We aim to return children to their childhood and offer the possibility of a positive future.

2010 Virgin London Marathon

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall. Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and raised more than £400 million for charities and good causes. Last year alone a staggering £47.2 million was raised, making the event a Guinness World Record holder as the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Like many of the young people Kids Company supports, Chris Haydon has had a chequred past, however since coming to Kids Company at the age of 17 things have really changed for him:

“When I came to Kids Company I had no sense of direction. They showed me there’s another road I could take apart from street life. They showed me care and support and helped make things happen for me with their positive attitude. They showed me there’s more to life than just the road. It’s a big world out there!”

This April, Chris will be supporting Kids Company by running the London Marathon for the first time and hopes to raise £9,000.00 in sponsorship for Kids Company.

“I remember when I was 13 years old, seeing the runners go past my children’s home and thinking - I’m going to do that one day. This year I get to achieve that goal.”
