Charity
The British Schools Exploring Society is a pioneering youth development charity undertaking scientific research expeditions in areas of wilderness, in the four extremes of mountain, jungle, desert and Arctic. Founded in 1932, our aim has been to recruit, train and develop leaders and scientists of the future who are then able to inspire others. Based at the Royal Geographical Society, BSES is the world’s oldest charitable organisation of its kind. The British Schools Exploring Society provides young people with an experience that is both challenging and educational through truly unique expeditions. The Society encourages young people from all areas of society to apply to become Young Explorers. We raise funds for three main purposes: personal and leadership development, the Next Generation Programme (for disadvanteged young people) and bursaries to enable more young people from all parts of society to join our expeditions. We take young people on classic expeditions of a challenging and scientific nature to remote, wild environments in order to develop and promote confidence, their self reliance, team work, leadership and a spirit of adventure. The British Schools Exploring Society encourages young people from all sectors of society to apply to become Young Explorers and Young Leaders. For more information please visit www.bses.org.uk.

Chris's fundraising page!
Hi, Chris here. You may be familiar with London's Trellick Tower, a masterpiece of 60s Brutalist architecture 322ft above the London skyline. Well, on June 12th I'm abseiling down it!
It's all for a good cause: the British Schools Exploring Society. The BSES is a youth development charity doing something I feel strongly about: "putting the adventure back in".
Our young people today are growing up in an over-protected, cotton-wool-wrapped world that's limiting the opportunities for risk and its attendant life-affirming rewards. The BSES, formed in 1932 by a member of Captain Scott’s final Antarctic Expedition, continues to buck the trend. Each year young people aged 16-23 take part in valuable adventure and environmental research projects in the world's wilder places, from the heights of the Himalayas to the heat of the Arabian desert. Learning leadership and life skills the best way - through adventure.
Sponsor me through this page and donations will be quickly processed and passed directly to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
THANK YOU! Chris
