Charities

Down's Heart Group
47% of babies born with Down's Syndrome also have congenital heart problems. Down's Heart Group provides parent friendly support and information to their families to enable them to make informed decisions about their child's future. We then support them every step of the way throughout life, being available whenever they need us. Our staff and the majority of our volunteers and trustees have direct links with somoen who has Down's Syndrome and heart problems and they use their considerable personal experience to benefit other families.
Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research
Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research is the only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders including leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and other lymphomas, and myeloma.

Tom does the London Marathon (and more!)

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my fundraising page! As some of you may know, I'm doing the London Marathon this year, in support of two fantastic charities: Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research; and the Down's Heart Group. However, in addition to running the London Marathon, I'm also going to be running in the Reading Half-Marthon, and maybe even swimming over 10km in the Swimthon (in aid of Marie Curie; more details to follow). And all three of these events are in April 2012; what a joy!

I'd really appreciate if you could sponsor me; whatever you can manage, as it all adds up and makes a difference.

Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (http://leukaemialymphomaresearch.org.uk/) is a fantastic charity that is dedicated to researching blood cancers and finding new and innovative ways to treat them. My wonderful friend Hannah is a leukaemia survivor, and that is thanks to all the hard work done by charites in the last 50 or so years. This is for Hannah.

Down's Heart Group (http://www.dhg.org.uk/) is a charity that provides support and information relating to heart conditions associated with Down's Syndrome. My younger brother, Ned, was born with Down's Syndrome and his heart had an atrioventricular septal defect. As a result of this, Ned needed two major heart operations to repair his heart and enable him to grow properly. The people at the DHG were fantastic, giving my parents information and support over the phone when they needed it most. This is for Ned.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
