Charities
BLESMA is the Charity that directly supports all our service men and women who lose limbs, the use of limbs or eyes or the sight of an eye in the service of our country and we are with them all whenever we are needed for the rest of their lives. Our work starts with rehabilitation proving that there is life after amputation. Our work is about amputee helping amputee, the fellowship of shared experience. Our work is about life long welfare support, about campaigning for what they deserve and about being there when old injuries come back to haunt. Our youngest Member is 18 and our oldest is 99. Truly we are BLESMA for life.
The Meningitis Trust is the UK’s longest established meningitis charity. It helps around 20,000 people each year through its range of specialist services; giving vital support to those who have been affected by this life-changing disease. With as many as 500,000 people living in the UK who have had either viral or bacterial meningitis and up to one adult in every four knowing someone who has had meningitis, the charity’s ongoing work is much-needed. The charity is committed to raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of meningitis and distributes millions of leaflets, posters, symptoms cards, information sheets and other materials every year. Commando Joe's fundraising page
The Commando Joe team are at it again........ After a 2 year break the team have decided to enter the Virgin GB Row 2011 starting and finishing at Tower Bridge London. This ultra extreme rowing event will circumnavigate around the United Kingdom mainland. The race is unsupported with a prize fund which if won will be split between the teams two chossen charities.
Billed by the organisors (Anglo American Boat Club Limited) as 'the most difficult rowing race in the world...the ultimate challenge'. The teams true challenge though is against nature and the raw and sometimes brutal power of the elements...planning, preparation, determination, commitment and double shot of luck will be required if the team is to be successful.
You can play your part by sponsoring the team in order that their chossen charities can continue to provide vital support to those that require it.
A BIG THANK YOU in advance for you support, it really does help.
