The Crudwell Village Hall And Recreation Ground
Crudwell is a thriving Village near the towns of Malmesbury, Tetbury and Cirencester. The village is an attractive stone-built village spread around two small greens, either side of the main road. There is an interesting medieval church built in the twelfth century & the only other building of note can be found next to the church. The former rectory was built in the 16th century & is now a hotel. Crudwell Village Hall & Recreation Ground raises funds for the ongoing maintenance and development of this central part of the Crudwell Village Community - the highlight of which is the 24 hour 'Le Mans' bike ride held every June. The Crudwell ‘Le Mans’ 24hr Bike Ride came about as a means to raise funds to build a new Village Hall. Once this was achieved the event went on to raise funds for charity. In 2005 it raised a staggering £24,320.00 in total. Since its inception in 1990, it has been held every year with the exception of 2006 and 2013. Each year it has grown both in terms of the number of riders participating and the level of sponsorship raised, but its most important objectives are still to enjoy yourself and have fun whilst raising money for charity. Every year the funds raised are split 50/50 between the Village Hall and individual charities chosen by the 30+ teams who enter the event.

Crudwell 'Le Mans' 24 Hour bike ride is a community fundraising event where teams of all ages and ability compete to raise the most sponsorship. It is also fun to see which team can complete the most laps in 24hrs.

As well as raising funds for current planned improvements to Crudwell village hall and its surrounds, 60% of funds raised by each team go to the charity of their choice, in our case Wiltshire Air Ambulance via Hannah Cubin's Fundraising Page. Hannah is a 14 year old girl from our village, who sadly died last December. Her fundraising page has raised over £50,000 for the Air Ambulance.

Our Badminton Club is rather senior and struggle to get on a bicycle these days, let alone get around the 7 mile lap. Some of us even manage 5 or 6 laps, suffering for weeks afterwards. We are very grateful for any sponsorship, however small, and help keep our Air Ambulance flying.
