WELL we did it!!!! and are now back safe and sound.

668 miles, a few hills (two big ones),  9 punctures, 4 people fell off, 1 broken shoe, got lost twice, one bridge missing, lots of coffee, many french cakes and lots of money for the charity.

I would really like to thank Lizzy, Sophie and Arri for their help, driving, cooking, tent pitching and navigation across the small roads of France. Also for putting up with tired and stroppy riders!!!!!!! Without them we could not have done it. They gave up 10 days of their time so many thanks from all of us.

The hardest part is collecting in all the money, so if you still owe us any then please send it to:

Next challenge is in the planning stage already

Thursday 9th June

We rode from our campsite in Switzerland straight up to 1498m, legs screaming for 4.5 miles - the only benefit was the 13 miles downhill and round the lake to Geneva for lunch. The afternoon was another 20 miles up the Chamonix valley. 635 miles completed, only 35 miles to go but it is uphill. Maybe a few beers at the end.

Wednesday 8th June

From Troyes we were hot as mustard to Dijon, covering 94 miles through great countryside. Dijon to the Jura was about 70 miles. Stopped for crepes in Dole at lunch time - got to keep the calorie intake up - then through the forest onto Arbois on the edge of the Jura. Big day today even if it was only 45 miles, straight up (twice) to about 1298m and into Switzerland. Staying overnight on the edge of Lake Joux. There would have been great views if it hadn't rained all day. We are all a bit wet now, though luckily the campsite has a room that we can use to eat in and dry our stuff off. Geneva tomorrow. Off for a beer now.

Monday 6th June.

We have now travelled through the north, passing the First World War graves and the roads lined with poppies. Mainly flat. We stayed in Troyes overnight and today we travelled through the champagne country and are now just above Dijon. The hills have increased and there was no stopping for wine tasting. Bit dehydrated!
Everything hurts. Thank God for Ibruprofen, Deep Heat, energy drinks and gel shorts - you need them all. 449 miles completed with more hills to go. Colin has told us that we have another 34 hours in the saddle. Ouch!
Thanks for all the support.

London to Chamonix (Mont Blanc) June 2011

Dynamic Adventures have spent the last 12 years organising expeditions all over the world, and now we are organising an exciting expedition, cycling from central London to Chamonix in France in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

Thanks to all who have sponsored us through sending cheques or pledging money. We now have a total of £11,000 including monies not yet received.

The Team

James (Lord ) Bloss, Paul ( Broken Leg) Mitchell, Katie ( Only Girl ) Strycharczuk, David ( Brother ) Mitchell, Colin ( Very Tall )Kiely, Simon ( Big Legs ) Tring.

Dynamic Adventures have invited a team of 6 people to cycle this gruelling distance to Chamonix in France. They started their training in December 2010 and it is hoped they will complete the challenge in 8-10 days, depending on the weather and how exhausted they get.

The second part of the team is a support vehicle with a driver and sports therapist provided by Dynamic Adventures. Rebecca Whitelock and Sophie Brown will be a great help to the cyclists.

Accommodation on route

During the expedition the team will be based in campsites and the support team will organize this for the tired cyclists.

Fund raising

The main reason for this challenge is to raise funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The target for the team is to raise a minimum of £10,000 and we are planning a number of activities to raise the money. We would much appreciate all donations and pledges for this great cause.

The Route 672 miles

We will start at the London Eye (great location for photos) and cycle the first leg to Dover, and then onto a ferry to France. Over the next 7 days we aim to cycle between 80-100 miles each day until we arrive at Chamonix and the statue of Horace Bendicte de Saussure, who, in 1760, offered a "substantial" cash prize to the first person to reach the summit of Mont Blanc.

Extra

We plan an extra part to the challenge which is to climb to the summit of Mont Blanc over a three day period. This is very weather dependant and the team will only complete it if we get the weather window when we arrive.

The team has two mountain guides who will lead this part of the expedition.
