Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young people who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help. "It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

Welcome

Darren Jaundrill

No-one can deny that the servicemen and women of the British Forces are the finest in the world. They have, do and will continue to ensure our country’s interests are protected and that we remain safe in our daily lives. HELP FOR HEROES, ROYAL NAVY ROYAL MARINE CHARITY & BFBS BIG SALUTE are charities born from the belief that we, the people, can do and should do more to help those who come home and need additional support. They are very close to my heart and I am sure many thousands of you reading this right now.

From this comes the Three Channels Challenge. Never heard of it? I’m not suprised as it’s something that came out of a long night with some Royal Marine friends of mine.

1. England to Wales; Bristol Channel; Ilfacombe to Swansea, 30.5 miles
Completed May 2011 – 21 hrs 46 mins 19 sec

2. Northern Ireland to Scotland; Galloway Channel, 27 miles
16 December 2012

3. England to Wales to Ireland; Irish Sea, 101 miles
TBC September 2013

Those are the challenges I have set myself. The challenges are going to be physically and mentally demanding. The training, alongside my other commitments, is going to be intense but with your support I will do it and in doing so will raise money and much needed awareness for all that our servicemen and women do.
