Dave's Monumental Marathon (Mistake?!!!)
Hi, thanks for visiting my page.
This was a picture of me and my beautiful daughter in December 2006 enjoying a show - being totally oblivious to the fact that exactly one week later our world would be turned upside down.
I received the shattering news that I had been suffering Testicular Cancer for the past 18-months and very swiftly received extensive treatment (very unpleasant!!!) to cure the problem and reduce the chances of any spread.
Thank God that over the past 3 years of continuous check-ups & tests, the cancer has not returned and I have continued to make an excellent recovery back to full fitness!!!
I am so grateful for all the fantastic care I received and have picked this particular charity (Orchid) as it's aims are both to educate men about male cancers - including self-examination and the fantastic support/research it continues to develop in the fight against Male Cancers.
'Prevention' is definitely better than 'cure'- So Remember Guys - Forget the embarrassment and...

This is naturally very much a personal journey for me and I am so grateful for the opportunity to raise awareness to this disease that affects over 2,000 men every year and for the support I have received from my family and friends.
Incidentally, I have never been a 'runner' in my life - always wanted to run the London Marathon but got exhausted just watching from my sofa - don't care how long it takes me (as long as it's before people start arriving for work!!!) and very grateful for the 2.5 stone I've managed to shed in the process...
