The Shooting Star Children's Hospice (Old Account) - Shooting Star House is a very special place, a real home-from-home for the children we are privileged to care for. We provide essential care for children with a life-limiting condition and offer invaluable support for the whole family, completely free of charge, 365 days a year. Our fundamental Care Services include respite care, both at the hospice and in the child’s own home, specialist end of life care and bereavement counselling. There are some wonderful facilities for our families to enjoy, including a hydrotherapy pool, a multi-sensory room and specifically adapted play equipment, both indoors and outdoors. With no long-term statutory funding, we rely upon voluntary fundraising and donations to provide the £3 million needed each year to maintain our Care Service, supporting families who find themselves in unimaginable circumstances.

2010 Virgin London Marathon

25 April 2010

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall. Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and raised more than £400 million for charities and good causes. Last year alone a staggering £47.2 million was raised, making the event a Guinness World Record holder as the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. It is a lifetime ambition to run The London Marathon. I have been to watch and support many, many times, and now it is my turn to be on the other side of the barrier. 

 My chosen charity is a local one- The Shooting Star Children's Hospice. The Shooting Star need to raise £3 million per year to maintain the amazing care and support they offer to families.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to The Shooting Star. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
