World Land Trust
We save threatened rainforest and wilderness around the world, working with local NGOs to purchase land and create permanent reserve areas. Since its foundation in 1989 World Land Trust has helped to protect over 500,000 acres of the world's wild places against the pressure of expanding human agriculture and population.

100,000 kilometre solo world circumnavigation by human and wind power, in support of the World Land Trust
On December 10, 2006, I set off from Melbourne, Australia on a solo expedition to circumnavigate the planet by bicycle and sail. Over the course of the journey I will cycle through six continents and over fifty countries, and sail cross the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
My number one reason for undertaking this journey is for the environment and to experience the great wilderness areas on the planet. With a love of nature also comes a deep concern for the state of the global environment, so I am using my journey to support the World Land Trust, which I believe is doing vitally important conservation work around the globe.
Here is some information about this great conservation organisation:
The World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation organisation that takes direct action to save rainforest and other wildlife habitats. How? By providing funds for partner organisations, so that they can purchase land and establish permanent wildlife reserves. Over 400,000 acres saved for wildlife!
Why support the World Land Trust?
Rainforests, grasslands, wetlands and other wildlife habitats are crucial for the survival of endangered species such as Orang-utans and Asian Elephants, as well as thousands of species of birds, plants and insects.Your donation will secure and safeguard biologically important and threatened habitats forever as nature reserves. It’s as simple and effective as that.
Over 400,000 acres (161,880 ha) of tropical forest and other wildlife areas have been permanently secured so far, thanks to individual and corporate supporters of the World Land Trust.
How the World Land Trust works
The World Land Trust funds the purchase and protection of threatened wilderness areas all over the world. The land saved is owned and managed by in-country project partner organisations. We are currently raising funds to protect wildlife habitats in South America, Africa and South East Asia.

100,000 kilometre solo world circumnavigation by human and wind power in support of the World Land Trust

On December 10, 2006, I set off from Melbourne, Australia on a solo expedition to circumnavigate the planet by human and wind power. Over the course of the journey I will cycle, sail, paddle and row across six continents, fifty countries, five seas and two oceans.

The stimulus for undertaking this journey is my interest in the environment and to experience the great wilderness areas of the planet. With a love of nature also comes a deep concern for the state of the global environment, so I am doing this journey in support of the international conservation organisation the World Land Trust, which I believe is doing vitally important conservation work around the globe by taking direct action to save rainforest and other wildlife habitats.
