Charity

Alzheimers Society
Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them. There are 700,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025. Alzheimer's Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Many of our 25,000 members have personal experience of dementia, as carers, health professionals or people with dementia themselves, and their experiences help to inform our work. The Society's fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through our branches, we touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers. Every year, more than a million people make use of the information we provide. Through campaigning and lobbying we strive to influence government policies and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with dementia and the people who care for them. And through our research programme we work to improve the knowledge we have about dementia and its treatment - and pursuing the ultimate goal of finding a cure.

Update**

I did it!

My legs ache and I can't walk up or down stairs but I completed the London Marathon in five hours and one minute.
At times the crowd lining the route was so unbelievably loud. Their support really helped to keep me going despite the heat. I powered through and even managed a 200m sprint finish.
The London Marathon experience was incredible. I can't even describe what it's like to have thousands of people cheer you on to keep going.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored me. Your support has been really appreciated. The knowledge that I was raising money for such a worthy cause kept me going.

Hello,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Running the London Marathon will be the toughest physical and mental challenge I will ever put myself through. So far I have trained through rain, hail, gale force winds and sunshine. My feet ache and I will probably lose at least one toenail.

BUT what will keep me going is the fact I have to complete it for a very worthy cause, the Alzheimer's Society. Money you donate will help the charity fund vital research as well as support for those affected by dementia.

And if you want to cheer me on on the day, please do. I'll need all the help I can get!

Thank you for your support. x
