BBC Children in Need
BBC Children in Need is the UK’s largest children’s charity. With the help of our fantastic supporters, we are able to change the lives of around half a million disadvantaged children and young people across the UK every single year. This year’s televised Appeal is on Friday 17th of November and marks a whole year of people doing their thing to raise money for our cause. Our vision is that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their potential. As a grant maker, we fund inspiring local people, projects and charities making a difference to young lives in all corners England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Every penny raised or donated goes towards these grants, and proving support to disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. We’re able to maintain this promise by using Gift Aid income to cover all running costs, meaning you can be sure your money makes a real difference.

Please note Virgin Money Giving isn't responsible for the content fundraisers post on their pages, but if you see something you feel is offensive or inappropriate, please let us know and we'll look into it.

Following the Nerd, Northern Ireland's premier online hub for film, comic, TV and paranormal related stories, is to embark on a gruelling 27 hour radio marathon all in aid of Children in Need.

Hosts Marc Savage and Michael Bashford will be presenting their Northern Ireland Social Media Awards (NISMA) nominated radio show from the Shine FM (on 102.4FM) studios in Banbridge, from 9pm on Thursday, November 17 until 11.59pm on Friday, November 18, as they aim to help the BBC charity raise as much money as possible for this annual charity event.

Marc and Michael have already secured a number of interviews with actors and voice artists, from the world of film and TV, including Star Wars, for the event.

"We really hope people will be able to join us for this unique radio event that has probably never been tried before in Northern Ireland," Marc said. "Certainly when it comes to chatting about things like Star Wars and comic books for over a day it certainly has never been attempted before."

If you would like to help the guys out during their unique feat contact them at, visit their facebook page at or via twitter (@nerdfollowing).
Remember, stop following the herd and start following the nerd!

We have lined uo interviews with actors from Star Wars, Star Trek, X-Files, to name but a few. Over the day we will be giving away numerous prizes that people can enter to win but we would ask that they also donate a little too.
