Charities
Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young people who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help. "It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
Practical Action is an international development charity, founded in 1966 by radical economist Dr EF Schumahcer. We work with and employ local people to create simple, sustainable answers to poverty. We know that the right idea, no matter how small, can change lives.
The Rowans Hospice is a local charity which provides specialist hospice care and support to patients with life-limiting illness resident in Portsmouth and South East Hants, their relatives and carers. All the care given is without charge. Our 19 In-Patient rooms are single en-suite, with peaceful views of our garden courtyard or extensive wooded grounds. We also have two rooms for relatives who may wish to stay overnight. The Rowans Hospice strives to create an environment which is conducive to the physical, social, emotional and spiritual well being of all people referred to our service. The Hospice is purpose built, in a beautiful setting where people can rest with the security of having specialists caring for them 24 hours a day. Our services include: Day Care for up to 16 patients per day Intensive Therapeutic Clinic, offering a wide range of help and support Support at home Bereavement Support Occupational Therapy Physiotherapy The Rowans Hospice relies upon the generosity of the public who raise the funds needed to run all of our services. We need to raise £3.7 million each year. Your help is needed to maintain our services to those most in need of help.

Four Go Down The Thames
Hello,
Thanks for visiting our page.
In May 2012 we rode our bikes the entire length of the River Thames, from the source to the Thames Barrier. This was a total distance of 175 miles, and was cycled over three days. We did this to raise funds for three charities, Practical Action, Help for Heroes, and Rowans Hospice.
Practical Action works with communities in the developing world to implement simple, sustainable technology to help improve water supplies, sanitation, crop irrigation and shelter.
Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country.
Rowans Hospice is a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire.
The funds raised will be shared equally between the three charities.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and your donations will be quickly processed and passed to the charities.
We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
Thanks
Phil, Andy, Dave, and Andrew
