Hi, thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

On the weekend of June the 16th and 17th the East Midlands Labour Party team will be taking on the Three Peak Challenge to raise money for four worthy charities.

It all began last year over a staff meal when we asked our regional director, Gordon, what challenge we should undertake this year as a team - his answer was the three peak challenge. With the atmosphere of the evening, along with a few glasses of wine, we all enthusiastically agreed. After all climbing three mountains in 24 hours can’t be that difficult…can it?

In the cold light of the next day however, it dawned on us just what we had agreed to. Now whether through not wanting to face the embarrassment of admitting we’re not sure we are fit enough to do this, we have now come too far. Following months (or days in the case of Neil) of training the East Midlands team of Gordon Pattison (team leader), Vicky Street, Nicola Heaton and Neil Rayner will be setting out to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours on the 16/17 June.

Fear not though as we are not alone in our challenge. Along the way we will be supported by George Carr-Williamson and Suzi Clark, who will be on hand to feed us, tend to our blisters and give us words of encouragement - and of course drive us between mountains as the team try and sleep in the minibus!

In a serious moment though, we know that this is not an easy challenge. It means walking 25 miles, climbing 2940m and driving 466 miles in 24 hours, and although each of us has climbed one (or more) of the peaks, none of us has tried to do all three in such a short space of time. This really will be a huge challenge for us. But it’s one that we are determined to finish as a team because there is obviously a reason that we are doing this and that is to raise money for four very worthy charities.

It is with this in mind that we would like to ask you nicely to help us raise as much money as possible.  It doesn’t matter how much you can give us, as the saying goes, every little helps. All of the money raised will be split equally between our four charities – so please if you have a little spare, please consider supporting us in our challenge and helping four great charities along the way.

Please also visit our blog at http://fouronahiketogether.wordpress.com/ where you can see how the team is getting on.

Thank you in advance

Gordon, Vicky, Nicola and Neil (and of course Suzi and George)
