Charity

SCOTTISH BURNED CHILDRENS CLUB
The Scottish Burned Children's Club provides support to burn survivor children, age 8-18 years, and their families dealing with lifelong scars of burn and scald injuries. The charity is solely funded by fund raising events, sponsorship and donations and is run and organised by volunteers. Unlike any other injury, burns and scalds leave a life long scar, which no matter how small or big act as a reminder to the family as well as the child of the trauma they have been through. The child must also grow up knowing their body image is different, knocking their confidence at a time when normal processes of growing up are stressful enough. With continued support, positive encouragement and the courage and determination that has helped them so far we hope to see each child realise their dreams and goals.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page

Elsie maria Drysdale aged 2 at the time, suffered 32% burns to her little body following an accident in the kitchen on 03/06/2014 resulting in multiple 3rd degree burns requiring skin grafting. she spent a number of weeks in intensive care at the royal hospital for sick children in Edinburgh. we couldn't let the date pass as much as we wished we could.

June 3rd is a date which we will remember forever. It is a date that changed Elsies life as well as ours, I remember every second and can replay it back in slow motion time after time. I don't want that date to define Elsie, yes she was scalded and yes she will bear the scars for her lifetime and we will carry the emotional scars. What defines Elsie is her amazing bravery and her strong character. Anyone that knows Elsie would agree she's a spirited and determined little lady and I hope she always stays true to herself. She has kept us going this last year. That date is looming and it's casting a cloud over us but I won't let it knock us back. In the early days I described Elsies recovery as climbing a mountain and this is what we are going to do. The Drysdales are going to climb Ben Vrackie the biggest mountain that there little legs can manage. Alan, me, Charlotte Joe and Elsie. As a family we are strong and we will tackle it together. We are setting up a sponsorship page and any donations will go to the Scottish Burnt Childrens Club who were there for us in the darkest of times, in the first few days after the accident when we were searching for help and hope for Elsies future.  They were there at the end of the phone and have bought us together with other families,  in a similar situation. Please sponsor us, any donation would be greatly appreciated. X
