In September 2008, the NSPCC launched its Child's Voice Appeal to answer more children's cries for help. Every day, thousands of children and young people need to talk to ChildLine about a problem they face, while hundreds of caring adults call the NSPCC Helpline, worried about a child's safety. With the help of people like you, ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline are already there for thousands of children and young people, but many more need our help. We rely on the generosity of the general public to continue our work.

2010 Virgin London Marathon

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall. Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and raised more than £400 million for charities and good causes. Last year alone a staggering £47.2 million was raised, making the event a Guinness World Record holder as the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Hi and thanks for getting this far in supporting us!

As you probably know, myself and Al have both somehow ended up getting places for the VLM 2010 in the same year, and have somehow managed to fit in (so far) our training, around changing nappies and chasing 3 year olds!

So we thought, what better opportunity than this to raise money for children that are not so fortunate as ours, to have a happy, normal childhood. Those that are  at risk of or suffering from some form of abuse.

So, we have chosen to support the NSPCC and in particular your support in our quest to complete the 26.2 miles will go towards the 'Child's Voice Appeal' to ensure more calls to Childline by abused children, will be answered effectively.

"At present and with current funding we can only answer two thirds of the 2.3 million calls we receive from children each year and three quarters of the calls we receive from adults concerned about the welfare of a child."

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

We really appreciate all your support and hope we can do you all justice on the big day!

So put the date in your diaries, 25th April 2010, and think of us when having your Sunday lie in, or tucking into a bacon sarnie, or having a nice Sunday morning stroll on that particlar morning!! We'll certainly be thinking of all the above to keep us going!!!
