Words for the Wounded
Words for the Wounded is a UK based charity that raises money via international writing prizes and donations for the rehabilitation of our wounded servicemen and women. We act as a conduit and pass the money we receive to projects such as Battle Back, largely funded by Help for Heroes which encourages wounded service personnel back into sport. These young men and women were at the peak of their fitness when life changing injury threatened to take their sense of self-worth from them. We want to help them focus on what they can do, rather than what they can’t. It is for this reason that we are supporting initiatives such as Battle Back which helps injured service personnel to lift the limitations caused by their injuries. At the same time Words for the Wounded wants to encourage writers and non writers to produce work of which they are proud. We want to unearth talent and lead people towards writing fulfilment - to help build confidence in those who enter, and those who are helped by the funds raised.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

Jan Speedie, Penny Deacon and Margaret  Graham (I thought I had to have a different name for the fundraising page, but that was only the email address, so I got that wrong.) Yes,  it really is Margaret, not Milly. Oh crikey.

What I won't get wrong is that  we and our lovely families and friends are going to be yelled at by soldiers,  and 'encouraged' to climb over tyre walls, crawl through tunnels (on all four should be easy - might have a little rest while there -) run, wade, slurp through mud in an effort to raise money for our wounded.

We expect to be left to slide into dark holes by our sons-in-law who have been longing for such a day. They will think it's Christmas. We expect to feel a little overwrought and a tiny bit grubby.  We grannies expect to be last home, but home we will come. It will be worth every step if we raise some dosh. Help the grannies, daughters, sons, and grands, to raise as much as we can, please.

The wounded deserve every penny.
