Cardiac Risk In The Young
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) aims to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. For more information please contact CRY on 01737 363 222 or cry@c-r-y.org.uk

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

Why am I doing this? That is a good question! Last year I took up open water swimming and since then I have become hooked, it is such an invigorating sport!

So this year I decided to challenge myself and along with it, raise some money for a very worthy cause.

I will be swimming in five, yes that’s right FIVE, open water swimming races which are staged throughout the UK.The first race is on the 26th May in London with the last one on the 25th August in Glasgow. Four of these races are 1 mile long while the last one is 2 miles. I will keep you all updated on my training leading up to the first race using both twitter and my blog as well as I make my way through the races.

For more information on the races please see the link below.

Why C.R.Y you say? Well as many of you will have seen in the national papers recently there were two high profile cases young professional footballers, Fabrice Muamba and Piermario Morosini, who both suffered serious cardiac failure while playing.

This kind of devastating occurrence does not just occur in professional sport but also to normal people throughout the UK and worldwide.

C.R.Y work with cardiologists and family doctors to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young by establishing good practice and screening facilities devoted to significantly reduce the frequency of young sudden death throughout the UK.

More information about C.R.Y can be found via the link below:

As a keen sportsman myself and with the recent news about Fabrice and Piermario, I decide I wanted to try and contribute to find out more about this condition and hopefully try and help others survive it in the future.

Please help me in raising as much money as possible for such a great cause I will be eternally grateful.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
