HemiHelp
Hemiplegia is a neurological condition that weakens one side of the body and affects one child in a thousand. It is sometimes described as a form of cerebral palsy and the effects are similar to those of a stroke. HemiHelp is a membership organisation offering information and support to children and their families affected by hemiplegia.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

HemiHelp invites you to join the first ever 10k event in Victoria Park on Sunday 19th May 2013.
The run will start at 10.00 with registration open from 09.00 (tbc).
Each runner will receive a HemiHelp running top!
It costs £20 to enter and runners don't have to pledge anything although we do encourage them to fundraise for HemiHelp and will pass them a fundraising pack!
Hemiplegia is a neurological condition caused by damage to the brain around the time of birth. The most obvious result is a weakness on one of the body, rather like a stroke. Over half of children with hemiplegia also have additional difficulties which can include epilepsy, visual or speech impairments as well as perceptual problems, specific learning difficulties or emotional and behavioural problems.
HemiHelp is a small national charity, formed in 1990 that offers support to young people with hemiplegia and their families. The services they offer include a helpline staffed by trained volunteers, events for families, parents and professionals, practical information sheets, a quarterly magazine, support for teachers, a one-to-one home visiting service and a transition service for young adults.
