Charity

Guy's and St Thomas' Charity.
We are the UK’s largest and most innovative NHS charities. Our aim is to ensure patients get the very best care possible in the best environment by funding new services and approaches to healthcare at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Lambeth, NHS Southwark, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. With over 850,000 patients coming through our doors every year, donations made to the charity have a tremendously positive effect by providing an even better service to patients, visitors and staff, adding to what funding is available from the NHS. With your help we invest in new ways of delivering services, improving the hospital environment and funding world-class research. Our work is made possible by donations from patients, their families and members of the public. We undertake fundraising campaigns to support major projects and specific areas of need, including the Evelina Children’s Hospital and the planned Integrated Cancer Centre for London. By raising money for Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals you can make an incredible difference to the lives of thousands of people every year. £10 could provide a comprehensive information pack for a newly diagnosed cancer patient £30 could purchase as special gift for children staying in hospital over Christmas £50 could support our performing arts programme to give patients the chance to relax £100 could purchase gym and audio-visual equipment to provide physical therapy in the pain treatment unit £1500 could buy a reclining day bed for teenagers receiving chemotherapy

Jennings does the 3 peaks challenge!

Hi, thanks for visiting my page!

On 7th August, I'll be undertaking the 3 peaks challenge

For those of you unfamiliar with the this event, I'll quickly outline what it entails...

Basically, I'll be climbing the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike) Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours. So at 9am on 7th August, I'll start climbing Ben Nevis, and by 9am on 8th August, I aim to be at the bottom of Snowdon having conquered all 3 peaks.

I'm not doing this for nothing though, and not doing it on my own! I'll have three friends with me - Rob Phillips, Calum Macgregor and Paul Ellis - and I'm attempting to raise as much money as possible for a very worthy charity, The Evelina Children's Hospital, which is part of Guy's & St Thomas'.

I've chosen this charity because Rob's nephew, Edward, was born in December 2009 and at just two weeks old was taken critically ill. He was rushed to intensive care at the Evelina Children's Hospital where he was diagnosed with Pneumonia. Edward was given 24 hour medical care, and after two weeks, fully recovered.

By walking 25 miles, climbing 10,000 feet and enduring a 450 mile minibus journey, I hope to raise as much money as possible so that other children like Edward can continue to benefit from the wonderful care that Evelina provides

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Evelina Children's Hospital. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on the charity's behalf.

Thanks for reading, I really appreciate all your support, and thanks so much for any donations!

Cheers

Pete
