Just so you know, this is not me. I don't run marathons. I don't really do exercise. Until 11th February 2016 I had never been inside a gym. There is a saying 'out of your comfort zone'. I am currently checked in there.

So why am I running and, more importantly, why am I running for The Lullaby Trust?

Tragically, on the 6th March 2007 my closest friends lost their daughter at 6 days old for reasons we do not know. Since The Lullaby Trust's formation in 1971, it has been pivotal in reducing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) by 70%.

For those of you that know me, you will be aware that I am not the sort of person that is comfortable talking about emotions and so, although having gone through it with them, I have never really spoken to my friends about it in any real detail - but I think about it all the time. And I think about how it affected all of our lives forever. Because of this block I have on talking about it, I want to do something to show them just how much I care and how I think about Isabelle all the time (correct, I am more comfortable running 26.2 miles than having a conversation about feelings).

March 2017 would have been Isabelle's 10th birthday and so I want to do something to ensure she is never forgotten and to honour her by having her name on my shirt for the world to see. Because I saw their grief first hand I have to do anything in my power to try to help others going through this, or even to prevent it happening all together. The Lullaby Trust helped them at the time and so this is why I am desperate to raise money for them in Isabelle’s name. If I can stop just one family going through this heartache, or heal the pain of someone for just 5 minutes then it will be worth it.

I know there are many many amazing causes and this is just another one. But I am appealing to you as parents, grandparents, Gdparents, aunties, uncles & friends, and ask you to just imagine for a second what it must be like, after 9 months of a normal pregnancy, to not bring your baby home to the nursery that is waiting for them.

Today SIDS still claims the lives of 290 seemingly healthy babies and toddlers in the UK every year. The goal is to have this halved by 2020.
