The Sumo Run

Whether you're in training for the London 2012 Olympics or you just like dressing up at the weekends, the Sumo Run is your newest hybrid of serious exercise and self-expression. Except, of course, it's not very serious. In short, it is a 5km charity fun run in which everyone must wear inflatable Sumo suits...

Thanks for mitigating the pain of having to run miles in a sumo suit.

Had I been planning to jump out if a plane with a snake wrapped around my neck - no problem,  I'd do it backwards, in high heels, with two snakes and an iguana between my teeth.

But a run ...Now that's a CHALLENGE.

I am finding the whole 'trying to run' thing, painful to say the least. The last time I ran anywhere I was 14 and it was only the 100 meters....

If that hasn't convinced you then take a look at the charity. Your donation and my pain will go directly to a HIV and AIDS awareness project in the developing world. £250 will ensure a whole school has all the resources they need to educate children and address AIDS problems and future spread in their community and beyond.

The details: 5kms, a full Sumo Suit, Battersea Park, 19th June. SPECTATORS WILL BE SHOT.
