Charities
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Over half of all cancer research in the UK is carried out by our scientists. We have discovered new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer that together have saved millions of lives across the world. We have been at the heart of the progress that has already seen survival rates double in the last thirty years. But one in three of us will still get cancer at some point in our lives. Our groundbreaking work, funded entirely by the public, will help ensure that millions more people will survive.
Dorothy House Hospice Care supports 1,500 families affected by cancer, motor neurone disease and other life threatening conditions every year. It is the only charity providing free specialist nursing care at home for people with life-threatening illness in Bath, north and west Wiltshire and north east Somerset. Most of our care is provided in people’s own homes, as that is where the majority of our patients prefer to be. Short-term care, out-patient and day patient services are provided at the hospice in Winsley, near Bath. To make sure patients have the best possible quality of life, pain and symptom relief, respite for carers, emotional and spiritual support and day care are all provided free of charge. The vast majority of the hospice’s income, 81 per cent, is spent directly on patient care. A further 10 per cent goes on education, which indirectly benefits patients by training Dorothy House staff and other health care professionals.

London to Paris - 2nd - 8th September 2012
Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page!
Between 2 -8th September this year I completed by 7 legged challenge, running from London to Paris. 7 marathons in 7 days. I will be keeping this page open as a running fundraising total for any events I have planned in the near future, as well as this main challenge. Next up should be a half ironman!
The reason for my challenges is to raise as much as is possible for two fantastic charities, Dorothy House Hospice and Cancer Research UK and is in memory of my father, Ron, who lost his battle with cancer aged just 60 last year. In order to do so, I have devised a number of events that will certainly push a slightly podgy, casual runner to absolute breaking point, and maybe a little further.
Updates will also be on Facebook and Twitter (Josh_Running)
Any donations are greatly appreciated, so please dig deep for this extremely worthy cause!
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
Finally, I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
