Youth Sport Trust
The Youth Sport is a charity which believes every child has a right to be physically active through quality PE and school sport. We believe PE and sport has the power to fulfil young people’s potential, helping them to be healthy and happy, succeed in life and contribute to society. Through 20 years of experience the Youth Sport Trust has developed a unique way of maximising the power of sport to grow young people, schools and communities through the development of qualities such as creativity, aspiration, resilience and empathy. Through the power of sport we aim to ensure: - every child receives the best sporting start in life through a right to physical literacy, - every young person is provided a sporting chance to succeed in life through reduced inequality - every young person will achieve their sporting best in life by developing their creativity, aspirations, resilience and empathy.
The Contented Dementia Trust is an independent organization with the charitable aim of promoting lifelong well-being for people with dementia. The Trust achieves this through an innovative programme of individualized care developed over a ten year period at Burford Hospital, Oxfordshire. The SPECAL method is underpinned by a particular understanding of dementia as experienced by the person with it, described in the book ‘Contented Dementia’ by the clinical psychologist Oliver James. The Trust now provides comprehensive training at their Centre of Excellence in Burford for families and professional carers from all parts of the country and beyond, with outstandingly positive results.
Brain Tumour Research
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable! We are striving to fund a network of seven dedicated research centres whilst challenging the government and larger cancer charities to invest more in brain tumour research. Help us fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity
Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity helps seriously ill children with rare and undiagnosed conditions brave the unknown. We do this by providing specialist children’s nurses and through small grants to families with a seriously ill child.
A group of volunteer doctors, paramedics and nurses, who attend the scenes of serious accidents, or go to the critically ill, and provide life-saving care at the scene. We are called by East of England Ambulance Service to augment the care given by the ambulance crews

Can we raise £500,000 for 5 charities in 5 monthly using only social media, by simply donating £1 and then sharing the project with your social media network?...

Those charities are: Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s CharityBASICS HertfordshireBrain Tumour ResearchYouth Sport Trust and Contented Dementia Trust.

The "pay it forward" concept behind The Just 1 Project could change forever how we donate to charities and the way in which they fundraise.

Could we in fact donate less money but with just a little more effort in sharing the project with our friends, help charities to raise more by making more people aware of their need?

No more appeals to regularly donate £5 per month; no need to pledge £50 - just £1 and then a social share, encouraging your friends to do the same.
Can’t afford £1? No problem! Just do the sharing part; at some point, someone in your network will donate.

£500,000 in 5 months sounds like a huge task. In many ways it is, especially considering traditional fundraising methods. However, I have 1,358 friends on Facebook; 1,997 connections on Linkedin and 1,785 followers on twitter. If each of those connections donated £1 and then shared it with their friends, we could raise more than £8 MILLION. However, not all of those people will donate and some will overlook the project and not share it.

Let’s use social media for social benefit - instead of sharing cat videos, or donating a lump sum of £20, all you need to do is donate just £1. There’s no running or parachute jumping involved and I'm not asking you to tip iced water over your head - it’s all about using a network, which already exists, but changing slightly the way we use it, for the better.

Thank you, Jez
