Starlight grants magical wishes to seriously and terminally ill children who are afraid and in pain, and is the only charity providing entertainment, fun and laughter to half a million children in every hospital and hospice throughout the UK.

Karen and the New York Marathon.
Hi there and thanks for visiting my page...to think it all started with a cheery chat one winter's afternoon, not content with attempting my first 1/2 marathon (Liverpool) I have pushed the boundaries further and decided to go for the New York Big One -thanks Paul Skaife for unknowingly entering me!
In the words of a wise woman "its all in the preparation" I have now convinced myself that I will complete the task in hand hopefully with a smile on my face and with as much dignity as possible!
Many thanks to friends for encouragement and especially to family members who are the babysitters when I go out running.
Having 3 children of my own I am naturally drawn to fundraise for children's charities and this time I have opted to helping Starlight.
All Starlight's activities are aimed at distracting children from the pain, fear and isolation they can often feel as a result of their illness and at strenthening family bonds at what is often a time of great stress.
Starlight does not receive funding from the government or the National Lottery and relies on the generosity of people like you.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Starlight. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on behalf of Starlight where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
