Charity
A registered charity since 2002, AMEND is a patient support group run by volunteers for the benefit of everyone affected by the multiple endocrine neoplasia disorders and their associated endocrine growths. In addition to providing worldwide email and telephone support, AMEND runs a UK research registry and produces patient information with the help of an expert medical advisory team. Membership of AMEND is free and open to patients and health professionals. AMEND continually strives to look for ways of improving the care and management of MEN patients. Details of our work and free membership registration can be found on AMEND's well-respected website at www.amend.org.uk.

Sahara 2012!
A Trek to Raise Money for MEN!
On October 26, 2012, I'm going on a 100 kilometer trek in the Sahara desert. My goal is to raise £4448- AKA $7,000- for research on Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia.
My husband John has MEN. This is a really rare disorder that causes cancers of the endocrine system. With a little research and some math I've just discovered that John, who has type 2b, is literally one in a million (anyway I've always thought so).
MEN type 2b wasn't identified as a disease until the 1970s. There are still a lot of questions in terms of treatment and what patients can expect in their future. John's been significantly modified by medical science over the years and now lives minus 4 major bodily organs. He is pretty awesome really.
MEN does not get a lot attention or fundraising mainly because it is so rare. It would mean a lot to me and everyone affected by this disease if you would consider donating any amount for future research.
If I can find 90 people to donate £50 - AKA $78 - I can make my goal. But really we appreciate so much anything you can contribute.
Thank you so much for your support! Picture me as above but with a little less grass and some camels.
-Kathy
