Charities

Forces Children's Trust
As a charity we are devoted to working together to help children in need whose father or mother has died, or has been seriously injured, whilst a serving member of the British Armed Forces. The Forces Children's Trust is a non-profit organisation and the dedication of those involved ensures that the administrative costs are kept to a minimum, allowing all donations to be allocated exclusively to the needs of the children. This ensures that the children alone benefit from your generosity and that smiles eventually return to their young faces.
Blesma The Limbless Veterans
Today, Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is one of only around ten charities that still exist from the 18,000 that were born out of the First World War. Our mission is to assist limbless veterans to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Blesma is dedicated to assisting serving and ex-Service men and women who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the loss of use of a limb, an eye or loss of sight. We support these men and women in their communities throughout the UK and overseas. Blesma provides networks where Members not only enjoy support from our professional Welfare Team who can offer support with grants and advice with allowance claims, but where they have the opportunity to engage with others who have similar injuries and backgrounds to themselves, building an important fellowship with each other to overcome everyday battles. We work tirelessly for our Members when the conflicts that have affected their lives are no longer a focal point in the nation’s media. Since 1932, we have been the only national Service charity that supports limbless veterans for the duration of their lives. Our Members range from the youngest amputee veterans to those who fought in WWII, some having lived with limb loss for more than half a century. Modern medicine transforms the physical injury, but it is a complicated process to treat the emotional trauma and related lifelong health problems.
Army Of Angels
The Army of Angels is a UK Military Charity that provides direct and indirect support to members of the UK's armed forces who have been injured, physically or mentally, while serving their country in conflicts around the world. We also support their families and co-dependents. The charity helps all those who have fought for their country including veterans of the wars in Europe, the Far East, the Falklands and the Gulf.

Ride Route66

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/kenlewis

Hi I'm Ken and I love bikes. They are literally my life.

I've been riding pretty much all my life but 7 years ago I took the plunge and opened up my own full time training school. The idea was not only to teach people how to ride a bike safely but also to help open up a biking network so once you've passed your test you had other people to go on 'joy rides' with.

When I'm not working, which is very rare, I still enjoy going out on my bike, visiting places and just being out on the open road. In the past few years I've started doing a bit more touring and venturing further a field, visiting Germany and the Nurburgring several times. For me theres nothing more enjoyable than being on a bike.

One of the things on I guess most bikers 'bucket list' is Route 66, but with work and day to day life getting in the way its just one of those things I kept putting back...until I met Darren at the bike show.  Darren told me about the "Bike Tours for the Wounded" and I thought wow what a fantastic opportunity to ride the famous route but also to give something back to our troops, who without riders like me taking them as pillion would probably miss out on this once in a lifetime experience. I was pretty much buying my plane ticket there and then.....

I know its going to be a fantastic experience and I hope I can give my pillion Jeff just the same fantastic time.

Along with Jeff, we will both be aiming to raise as much money as possible for forces charities who help in so many different ways.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
