Everest Marathon Fund
The Everest Marathon Fund exists to support health and education in rural Nepal. Money is raised through the biennial Everest Marathon both from runners' individual sponsorship and from 'profits' on the race organsiation. The money raised is given to projects which all involve local stakeholders who also make substantial contributions. We are proud that our stunning race can also make a worthwhile impact on the lives of the poorest people of Nepal.

My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

I am taking part in the 2017 Everest Marathon and hope to raise much needed money to support the continuing work of the Everest Marathon Fund.

The Everest Marathon is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest marathon in the world. The start line is at Gorak Shep 5184m (17,000 feet), close to Everest base camp in Nepal. The finish is at the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar 3446m (11,300 feet) and the course is measured at 42km over rough mountain trails. It is considered by many to be the world's most spectacular race and has been held sixteen times since 1987.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in South Asia with 25% of the population living below the international poverty line of  $1.25 per day.

The people continue to battle the effects of the devastating earthquakes of April and May 2015 which caused widespread destruction throughout the region.

The Everest Marathon Fund does not operate projects but gives its money to charities which already have a continuous development programme. These various organisations work with local people at grass roots level and spend very little on administration.

The charities currently supported include:

Britain-Nepal Medical Trust.

International Nepal Fellowship.

Namche Bazaar Dental Clinic.

Nepal Leprosy Trust.

Nepal Schools Projects.

Community Action Nepal.

Help Nepal.

Over the sixteen races, since 1987, the Everest Marathon Fund has raised more than £630,000. The only administration cost is the annual inspection of accounts for the Charity Commission.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the Everest Marathon Fund. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
