Oxfam Haiti Appeal

A major earthquake has struck Haiti just over ten miles from the capital Port-au-Prince. This is the largest earthquake ever recorded in this desperately poor country. Your help is needed immediately. Oxfam’s long term work in Haiti means that staff are already there, teams across the region are responding to the situation where the need is most urgent. Oxfam’s emergency response will include providing clean water, sanitation and shelter. You can help by donation to the Haiti earthquake appeal. Your help is needed immediately.

You all know that on Tuesday, 12 January 2010 a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. The death toll is feared to be above 100,000 and Haiti's already fragile infrastructure has been severely damaged. The earthquake and aftershocks have left millions homeless and in need of medical attention, food and sanitation. Humanitarian aid agencies are working around the clock in enormously difficult circumstances - relief efforts will be prolonged and they need all the help they can get.
