Prostate Cancer UK
Prostate Cancer UK fights to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life. We support men and provide vital information. We find answers by funding research into causes and treatments. And we lead change, raising the profile of the disease and improving care. We believe that men deserve better.
Survivors Of Bereavement By Suicide
Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide We exist to meet the needs and break the isolation of those bereaved by the suicide of a close relative or friend. Many of those helping have themselves been bereaved by suicide. We offer emotional support, help and information in a number of ways: Telephone Helpline Information Support group meetings around the country Support Days Residential events Our aim is to provide a safe, confidential environment, in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, thus giving and gaining support from each other. We also strive to improve public awareness and maintain contacts with many other statutory and voluntary organisations. Suicide recognises no social, ethnic or cultural boundaries. Neither do we. Our groups are free of charge and open to all survivors of bereavement by suicide aged 18 and over.
Help Harry Help Others
Welcome to Help Harry Help Others - a campaign started by the incredibly brave Harry Moseley. Whilst battling an inoperable brain tumour himself, Harry was inspired to make a difference to all people with brain cancer when a friend of his who also had a brain tumour became very ill. In just over two years Harry organised and attended neaely 100 events to raise money for and awareness of Brain Cancer. Such events included setting up stalls outside supermarkets and at car boots selling home-made bracelets; delivering his powerpoint presentation to businesses and schools; and also speaking at large public events to audiences of over 500 people. Sadly Harry’s health took a sudden turn for the worse following brain surgery in August 2011 and after 14 weeks in a coma Harry passed away in his Mother’s arms peacefully at home on 8th October 2011. We really hope that you can all take the time to read Harry’s full story in his own words and read all about the inspiration behind this Charity: “Hi my name is Harry , I am 11 years old and I have an inoperable brain tumour. When a very close friend of mine became very ill in 2009 because of his brain tumour I set up ‘helpharryhelpothers’. I started my campaign by making beaded bracelets to sell in shops and businesses in the hope that people would support me and donate enough money for brain cancer research so that in return I could help get my special friend better. Robert was my inspiration and although he sadly died just after I started my campaign, I am determined to continue in his memory to help find a cure for this horrible illness so that no one has to go through what I have.” Help Harry Help Others is now a registered charity and like Harry always said about his bracelets is “hand made with love for all people with brain cancer”. Harry worked so hard on his campaign. Our mission is to simply continue what HE created in the hope that one day we can find a cure for brain cancer.
