Everest 2017's fundraising page

Rory McHugh, Bernard Angopa, Sami Mansour, Joanna Tizzard, Michael McHugh,

My page:

Namaste and thanks for reaching our Everest charity page!

Embarking on an adventure such as this is a great moment for reflection on what really matters in life. I'm Rory McHugh and I'm lucky enough to be joined as far as Base camp by Jo Tizzard, Michael McHugh, Sami Mansour, Bernie Angopa, and Luca Giancola. We've also recently been joined by Jonathan Guidry who I climbed with in Alaska last year and who will be joining the summit and fund raising teams!

At a time where countries are increasingly putting up barriers and retrenching from globalisation it is important to remember how lucky we all are and how many people all over the world still live in poverty. The Nepalese have had some tough times of late, not least with the devastating 2015 earthquake.

In the remote region of Makwanpur, far from the tourist trekking paths and out of sight, over 150 schools were damaged or destroyed. We have an opportunity to make a difference and really see the results.

We've teamed up with Joanna Bega the CEO of Child Rescue Nepal to create a list of high priority projects that are unfunded and all monies raised from this page will be ring fenced and applied directly to the projects below in order.

Project 1 - £14,850
Shankar Lower Secondary School - Manthali, Makwanpur
Project: build 2 room school house & provide materials for furniture

Project 2 - £17,269 (£32,119)
Buddha Primary School - Thingan, Makwanpur
Project: build 2 room school house, plus toilet facilities, plus furniture

Project 3 - £9,850 (£41,969)
Saraswoti Primary School - Manthali, Makwanpur
Project: build 2 room early development building, plus toilet facilities, plus furniture

Project 4 - £9850 (£51,819)
Rastriya Primary School - Barta, Makwanpur
Project: build 2 room early development building, plus toilet facilities, plus furniture

And dont worry, Child Rescue Nepal assure me there is a long list of projects desperately needing funding were we to get anywhere near this target!

I've also promised to return to Nepal and visit the communities where we have been successful and made a difference once the work has been completed. We can make a lasting impact here.

Finally, please follow our blog on for updates on the trip.

Good luck to you all and dont ever forget to live life to the full
