Charity
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea. The RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews rescue an average of 22 people every day around the coasts and waterways of Britain and Ireland. From 235 lifeboat stations, they are well trained and equipped to put to sea in the most fearsome conditions when the call comes. RNLI lifeguards patrol more than 140 beaches in England and Wales. As well as rescuing people from the water, they are also on hand for first aid and safety advice, making sure everyone can make the most of their day at the beach. Are you passionate about the water? Do you want to be part of a lifesaving team? Whatever the reason for your interest in our work, we’d love to have you onboard. The RNLI is an independent charity and receives no government funding. We rely on public support.
Please note Virgin Money Giving isn't responsible for the content fundraisers post on their pages, but if you see something you feel is offensive or inappropriate, please let us know and we'll look into it.
Paddle for Life
Myself and 7 other RNLI lifeguards are taking part in a sponsored team board paddle from Tregonhawke Beach, Whitsand Bay to Looe Beach in aid of the RNLI. We will be covering a distance of 10 miles (16km) and hope to complete this challenging event in 3.5 hours.
In order to prepare for the challenge we will undertake a strict week by week training plan individually as well as taking part in joint paddles that we will plan between now and August.
The RNLI rely solely on volunteer contributions to continue to provide us, and other lifeguards, with the most modern and efficient equipment to do our jobs to the highest standard and continue to save lives at sea.
Each member of the team (8 members) are aiming to raise £100 to go towards our team target of £800. So please if you are able to make a donation, big or small, it will really help us to make this target in aid of the RNLI.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the RNLI. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on the charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
