Asthma UK is the only charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the 5.4 million people in the UK whose lives are affected by asthma. We fund vital research, health information materials and essential services for people with asthma, including the Asthma UK Adviceline and Kick Asthma holidays for children with asthma.

Mark Singer - London Marathon 2012
Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and 100% of your donation will be quickly processed and passed to my charity Asthma UK.
I have had Asthma for more than 30 years. Fortunately I have a mild version which is treated with 2 daily dosages of a steroid inhaler. However there are more than 5 million Asthma sufferers in the UK and treatments vary greatly. I have witnessed friends of mine have severe Asthma attacks. The muscles around our airways tighten and make it very difficult to breath. More than 1000 people a year in the UK die from Asthma. The NHS spend on average £950 million a year on treatment. It is ironic that so many people suffer with Asthma but we very rarely hear of improvement in treatment or prevention. Your donation will go towards that and will be gratefully received.
I am proudly following in the footsteps of my nephew Jamie who has, to date ,run 4 marathons and is a passionate Liverpool fan. Last year in order to double his donations he ran at my suggestion in an Everton kit! In a effort to raise as much money as possible and as much as it pains me as an Everton fan I will be running in Liverpool kit!
On a personal note the last 12 months have been the most traumatic and emotional period in my life. I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart my family and friends who have supported me.
I would like to dedicate my marathon run to all of you and in particular to my adorable daughters Lydia and Lucy.
