Hey guys, thanks for visiting my page. After last year when I tried to raise £2000 by doing the New York marathon and accidently raised well over £2500, I thought I would undertake another crazy charity related adventure. This time it is Kilimanjaro (the worlds largest hill) for the charity Practical Action. Practical Action (or Praction to those cool people who like to combine words) are a charity who according to their website "use technology to challenge poverty". However that is vague, useless, and quite frankly no help to any one. Basically they use very simple, minimilistic, and long term engineering solutions in order to help people escape the poverty cycle. For good. They do so because after the aid workers have left, the comunity can continue to benifit from Practical Actions work, and also continue their influence throughout further areas of the comunity as the majority of their work requires very simple implimentation and so can be repeated easily. Thus drasticaly improving self sufficiency and independance. Furthermore for those of you that like a "personal touch", Practical Action are the main charity I want to work for after University as I am a huge believer that simple solutions can be used for just about everything, and their work is very closely linked to that belief.

A nice little example of Practical Actions work: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNKifHqScc
