edukid help disadvantaged children who's lives have been affected war and who live in poverty. This can include orphans, child led families, HIV/AIDS, former child soldiers, and those living in extreme poverty. edukid helps them have an education, and equips them with skills and qualifications to better find work, become self-sufficient, and break out of their poverty. Statistics show that for every child receiving a primary school education in the "developing world" their life expectancy increase on average by 7 years.
"Friends of Freemantles" raises money to support Freemantles School, a State-funded specialist facility for autistic children near Woking in Surrey. The school has wonderful specialist, purpose-built facilities and an enormously dedicated teaching staff but lacks the State funds to meet the cost of many of the things that enhance the children’s education and extend their opportunities. This includes the school minibuses, a caravan that is used to provide the children with experience of being away from home and in different environments and a lot of the extra specialist equipment that the school needs on a day-to-day basis. FoF volunteers, many of them time-poor parents and full-time carers of autistic children themselves, run events and seek donations year after year in order to make sure that the school is able to maintain these additional facilities and improve the prospects of every pupil. Freemantles School makes an enormous difference to the education and development of the children in its care and it would struggle to do so anywhere near as well without the charitable support it receives. Mike Beatty & David Smith's Kilimanjaro Climb
Hi, thanks for visiting our page.
In October 2011, we climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for three children’s charities!
In a break with what appears to be the current trend, we paid our own way so that all the money we raise goes to our chosen charities. We spent about £5,000 on the trip, plus associated pain, suffering and altitude sickness.
Our goal is to raise more than £20,000 for our chosen charities, Edukid, Friends of Freemantles and a special cancer charity, which grants wishes for cancer sufferers.
We are no longer taking donations on this site, but you can still continue your support by making any new donations directly with us.
