The Brigstowe Project provides information, advice and support to people living with HIV in Bristol and surrounding areas. The organisation was set up in 1995 by local housing, health and HIV support organisations. We are a vibrant, enthusiastic and forward thinking organisation whose aim is to improve the quality of life for people living with HIV.

Bristol Half Marathon - Plz sponsor me :-)
Hi, thanks for visiting...I've been working closely with the Brigstowe Project - a Bristol-based HIV/AIDS charitable organisation to set up a partnership link between this org and Lushomo, a Zambian HIV/AIDS org working specifically with 11 to 19 year olds with HIV/AIDS.
Brigstowe Project are planning to set up a 'youth' arm to their services and between us we've come to understand that this is a specific age group who are so little provided for in HIV/AIDS services worldwide.
The objective is for both orgs to learn from one another with the potential aims of assisting Lushomo to grow, whilst Brigstowe Project learn more about how to provide support for this particular age-group. We hope the learning between the two orgs could eventually lead to this age-group being better provided for in both our countries on a wider scale. And we're not talking about caring for those living with a death sentence; we're talking about empowering these young people to know that they're not - and that HIV will not stand in the way of them acheiving anything they want!
I've never run before but I'm running the Half Marathon to raise funds to help set up and support this partnership...We're not yet sure exactly how the money will be spent as we're still in the early planning stages. There's the chance that some of the funds raised may go towards the cost of a physical visit between the 2 orgs. Either way, all funds will go towards the creation and maintenance of this partnership link and furthering the potential of both orgs...and more importantly, furthering the potential of the young HIV+ people both orgs assist.
