Nikki's year of suffering!

As some of you may know, my Dad was treated for testicular cancer in 2014.  Cancer is something that affects so many of us in one way or another.  Thankfully my Dad was given the all-clear in January.  This has spurred me on to raise some money for Orchid, a charity who raise money for research and support for male cancer (testicular, prostate, penile).

Last year I completeled my first Ironman triathlon, and really this is just a good excuse to endure some more suffering!  I have decided to set myself a series of challenges (starting easy and getting progressively harder) throughout 2015 in order to raise money for Orchid.  So whilst I'm suffering, go on, dig deep and sponsor me (pretty please!).

My challenges are:

1) The Island Race (Half Marathon); 1st March- DONE; PB 1.51.05 :)

2) Paris Marathon; 12th April- DONE; 4hrs17 (I suppose it counts as a PB... my first marathon).

3) Slateman Triathlon; 17th May- DONE; 3hrs26; PB (but an horrendous run!)

4) Climbing the Old Man of Hoy; May bank holiday weekend- DONE

5) Land's End to John O'Groats (biking, solo, 7 days); 2nd - 8th June- DONE (I re-did day 7 in September as had to stop 55miles from the end due to bad D&V)

6) Everesting Froggatt hill climb on my bike; 38 reps; 20th June- DONE; 24hr51mins WOW

7) Cotswold 226 Triathlon (Ironman distance triathlon); 12th July- DONE; 13hr29 (A PB by almost 2 hours!!!)

8) Climbing the Matterhorn; late July; Not Done :(  Route closed due to rock fall

9) Loch Lomond Swim-Run; 5th September- DONE!  Good fun!

10) Swim the length of Ullswater; 10th October- DONE; 6hr05 Hard Work, and very cold!

11) Run the Thames Path (approx 7 marathons in 7 days); 14th - 20th November ***

12) Run the Tour du Helvellyn (38mile Ultramarathon); 19th December

THANK YOU!

The list has grown as the year has gone on!  Thank you so much to everyone who has already sponsored me.  I've been having great fun suffering, and am looking forward to a rest in January!

***I am running the Thames Path with company from Pippa and Bee, 2 amazing nurses from the Children's A&E.  I cme up with this foolish idea during a night shift, and was very impressed when they both said they wanted to come too!
