Paddling Paws Sponsored Swimathon

Fundraiser:
Paddling Paws

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PaddlingPaws

On Monday 21 June, six of our Hydrotherapy team and six of their dogs undertook the Paddling Paws Sponsored Swimathon in the AHT’s Hydrotherapy pool.

Between the 12 of them, they swam for a total of 12 hours in our heated pool which measures 10 feet long by six feet wide by four feet deep.

The aim of the Swimathon was to raise lots of money to go towards buying a new water treadmill for the Hydrotherapy unit which will heap us reduce pain and stiffness for many dogs and cats, enabling them to lead more active lives.

The team was made up of six human swimmers: Jo, Laura, Gemma, Zoe, Sam and Gem. Accompanying them throughout the challenge were:

Alfie – a five-year-old chocolate Labrador who’s been swimming for more than four years. Alfie is a gentle giant with lots of energy!

Bailey – a three-year-old rehomed yellow Labrador. Bailey is energetic and boisterous and given half the chance he would swim the full 12 hours himself!!

Molly – our smallest team member, Molly is a two-and-a-half-year-old Jack Russell who is very cheeky and an incredibly fast swimmer. She loves swimming with her ball!

Skye – the lady of the team! Skye is a three-year-old rescued Trailhound who hasn’t been swimming for very long but her placid and friendly personality make her an ideal swimmer

Julie – A five-year-old Springer Spaniel who will do anything to please anyone. She started swimming after having hip surgery and is another one of our team obsessed with having a ball in the pool!

Barley – A five-year-old black Labrador, Barley trained to be a guide dog so she’s incredibly laidback and chilled out but very agile with it!

So far, in total, we've raised more than £8,000 towards the water treadmill but we still have a way to go! Please donate whatever you can and help our doggy friends get on the road to recovery!

Thank you!!
