Cllr Peter John - London Marathon 2012

Thanks for visiting my page!

I will be running the London Marathon on 22nd April to raise money for the Mayor of Southwark's nominated charity, the King's College Hospital Charity. I have run a marathon before, but it's been a number of years since I last took part in one, so getting over the finish line will be no mean feat.

This summer's London Olympics are a great opportunity for us all to get more involved in sport, with all of the lasting positive benefits that it can bring for our health and wellbeing. Running the marathon will be my way of getting fit again for London 2012.

I also believe that this year it's more important than ever that we all get involved in supporting good local causes. Three quarters of Southwark residents have said they were interested in volunteering. At the same time, many charities have been hit hard by the economic downturn and subsequent Government cuts. This can be the year when we turn that interest into action by making a contribution to a good local charity.

If you would like to sponsor me and want to know what your money is going towards follow this link http://www.kch.nhs.uk/service/a-z/rheumatology which has more details about the work of the King's College Hospital Charity and the work that they do in their Rheumatology Department.

Thanks for your support.

Cllr Peter John, Leader of Southwark Council
