Charities

Bliss
Bliss, the special care baby charity, provides vital support and care to premature and sick babies across the UK. We offer guidance and information at a critical time in families' lives. We also fund ground-breaking research and campaign for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born.
Tommy's
Tommy's goal is to reduce the incidence of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth which cause so much suffering to more than a quarter of all parents across the UK. Tommy's believes that disseminating information can help to minimise the risks inherent in pregnancy whilst medical research will increase our understanding of the fundamental causes and hence lead to identifying those most at risk and treating them.

Erin's Story

i would like to tell you my story of my miracle baby jack, jack was born 12 weeks early due to my pprom and infection strep b,

i gave birth to him by emergency c section and dispite him being reasonable well to start with and weighing 2.10 after the first two weeks thing dramaticly changed and he was very poorly, jack had NEC a very nesty disease and had to be transfered to manchester hospital, he recovered well and was trasfered to steppinghill again, then however jack got sepsis and had to be reventulated andtransfered back to manchester again, where he had to be on the ventulater two weeks and have around 10 blood and platelet transfusions and countless canulars and antibiotics!

we went to live in the hospital and it was the toughest two weeks of my life. Thankfully jack recovered well! and came home after 11 weeks in hospital and is now 6.10lb and 16 weeks old and doing well. i would like to share my story to raise awareness, more research needs to be done to help lower the riscs of premature labour ,

i am lucky to have him , please come along to raise funds and awareness . x

Ciara's Story

Dream is to run London Marathon, nuts yes as I am not the best runner in the world, so why do it,

My mission target is to raise 60k plus to do a project on pprom, which is pre-term birth, or other words when your waters go early.

Having lost my first born Sinead, I promised her I would do something special to improve maternity services.

The value work of Tommy's baby charity helped me have her sister, as I had a stitch to help me carry to full term.

So far, I have raised

On just giving: £891 - http://www.justgiving.com/ciara-curranandspeakman

and on my other Virgin giving page: £807

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=speakman&isTeam=true

So I have set myself a massive target.

Why does this mean so much, well if I can save my family from the sadness that my family endured, and to save them from my nightmare, and to give them a chance of being a family / a mum, that is a truely amazing gift.

Also by reading my just giving page, will lead to my blogs, and if by raising awareness of pprom and group b strep then that it self is truely awesome,

I really do need support though in raising the amount I need to, and help to sort out events, but allowing me to do some of the orgazing too, as I cannot tell you how this is helping me with my journey.

I have met and continue to meet some amazing people and have met some truely amazing friends and I will continue to be truely grateful for there support to get me where I am today

If you can help and would like to be part of my team, please email ciara_curran@hotmail.com

Need help / support with events, webpages, blogs and general fundraisning, so if you are some1 famous and can offer to donate a signed article or do a event on my behalf please let me know

It would mean the world to me
