ABF The Soldiers Charity
ABF The Soldiers Charity are for soldiers, for life; giving support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. They risk so much for us, but for them, its "just doing their job". In return, The Soldiers’ Charity give them down-to-earth help and friendship, with no hassle or bureaucracy. We help in ways that make a big practical difference to individuals. For example a level access shower for an amputee from a current conflict or care home fees for an elderly veteran. Thats what weve been here to offer for the past 66 years and will be here for as long as there is a need. http://www.soldierscharity.org
The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund
We are the RAF's leading welfare charity providing practical, financial and emotional support to all members of the RAF family, from childhood through to old age. We help with issues from childcare and relationship difficulties to injury and disability, and from financial hardship and debt to illness and bereavement.

Red White and Blue Day 2013

Fundraiser:
UK Schools

Red, White and Blue Day is being run jointly by ABF The Soldiers’ CharityThe RAF Benevolent Fund and The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity. Each of these three charities is responsible for the welfare of soldiers, sailors and airmen and their families.

The first ever Red, White and Blue Day was held in October 2011, with 175 schools taking part. The event was part of the wider Ten for Ten project, which marked ten years of British Forces involvement in Afghanistan.

The idea itself belongs to Alix Hodge, whose husband Marcus went to Sangin in his role as an artist. Alix was so moved by the events there that she wanted to mark the efforts of those who are in Afghanistan. ABF The Soldiers’ Charity worked with Alix last year to run Ten for Ten.

This year, we are taking the Red, White and Blue day to every school in the UK as well as opening the campaign up to military schools world-wide. Children can simply donate £1 and dress up in Red, White and Blue, or hold cake sales, sponsored events, or they might have weird or wonderful fundraising ideas of their own!

The money will be split between the three long-established charities which all have close ties with our Armed Forces.

"Since 1944, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has been looking after soldiers and their families. We are the national charity of the British Army and work closely with regiments and units to provide support. As well as looking after veterans and serving soldiers, we also give money for things like: building play parks, paying for a holiday for a family after a long separation, or helping with travel costs to specialist hospital appointments for children who are sick. We have been there in times of need for 69 years, and we’ll be here as long as there’s a need."

“The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is the RAF's leading welfare charity providing practical, financial and emotional support to all members of the RAF family, from childhood through to old age. We help with issues ranging from childcare and relationship difficulties to injury and disability, and from financial hardship and debt to illness and bereavement.”

"The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity exist to provide a better quality of life for serving and former Naval Service personnel. We  support the whole Naval family who are in need, suffering hardship or in distress. We do this through our grants to the Naval charities which provide through-life care to those whose service might be long behind them but can always call on the safety net available to them.  We work with the Royal Navy Officers' Charity, QARNNS (Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service), The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Children's Fund and the Women's Royal Naval Benevolent Trust.
We also exist to improve the morale and professional wellbeing of serving personnel and their families. So, we provide funds for a huge variety of projects and opportunities"
