Charities

Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research
Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research is the only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders including leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and other lymphomas, and myeloma.
Green Light Trust
Founded in 1990 we are an environmental education charity with a passion for bringing communities to life through working with nature. We empower local communities to create their own exciting wild spaces for enjoyment, learning and wildlife. We provide school communities with adventurous activities and Forest Schools Training. We offer Business communities entrepreneurial leadership in CSR and carbon reduction. We nurture global communities through links with local communities to deepen environmental and cross cultural understanding. We aim to inspire and motivate people to pay their active part in the urgent task of building a flourishing and suatainable future. Our aim is to epand and develop our Community owned WildSpace scheme. This uses our grass roots experience to assist others in establishing their own vibrant wild spaces in the form of woodlands, orchards, wildflower meadows or adventure trails. Our approach is to mentor communities in forming constituted groups, designing and managing their sites, creating havens for wildlife, engaging local schools and youth clubs and linking with communities overseas. Our aim is to pass on our passion and skills to enable each group to become completely self sufficient and independent. Our special goal is to explore and trial new ways to meet the social challenges in urban projects and empower disadvantaged young people through training in traditional outdoor skills and crafts. Sustainability is our core value. Working in Educatio for Sustainable Development since 1990, WildSpace projects are owned by local communities not GLT. Our ethos is skills transfer, from leadership, to outdoor activities. Our mentoring includes formal and informal training. Projects produce a sense of pride and ownership. Youths who have planted their own wildspace are unlikely to abuse it, tangibly making a difference. People feel good about themselves and their surroundings, further ensuring sustainability.
Help For Heroes
Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young people who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help. "It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
Age Concern Sheffield
Age Concern Sheffield is an independent, local organisation dedicated to supporting older people in Sheffield, particularly those who are vulnerable or isolated. We work to help older people in Sheffield to retain their independence and get the most out of life. We do this through a range of services ranging from one-to-one support in people's homes to information and advice. As a local organisation we are best placed to understand and respond to the needs of the people we exist to help but we're also part of a national federation of over 400 organisations who together can have a real impact on the national issues that affect us all.

Fundraisers:

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/roadtripwithbikes-lejog

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

We have now succesfully cycled from Land's End on the 7th of August and finished at John O'Groats on the 21st of August as planned! :-)

The final total was 910 miles, and we want to thank eveyone for their support and donations! It was great to see the total going up as we went along, and we are still collecting as some people wanted to see that we finished it first, or to see how far we would ride in total. So don't feel like you have missed the opportunity, we are still collecting until this page closes in a week, and are excited to raise as much as we can for our chosen charities!

The money that we raise will be collected together and split between our four charities. We hope that in achieving something for ourselves, we can also help to make a positive difference to others.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

We really appreciate all your support and thank you so much for any donations.

Tia, Laura, Kath & D x
