Headway - the brain injury association
Headway - the brain injury association is the UK's leading charity working to improve life after brain injury. Headway - the brain injury association provides support and information to brain injury survivors, their families and carers, as well as to professionals in the health and legal fields. Brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life - walking, talking, thinking and feeling - and the losses can be severe and permanent. It can mean losing the life you once lived and the person you once were. Brain injury is the foremost cause of death and disability in young people today. Headway - the brain injury association campaigns nationally for the introduction of measures to reduce instances of brain injury.

Cracknell/Walters LEJoG Tandem record attempt

Jerone Walters, James Cracknell

My page:

Dear Friends,

In less than 48 hours we are about to embark on our world record attempt – to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats (South to North of Britain) on a tandem, a gruelling uphill struggle of 850 miles non-stop/no sleep.  To break the world record (which has stood for 45 years) we need to complete our challenge in less than 50 hours and 14 minutes.  We would like to link our challenge to a good cause and as such we would like to raise money for the Headway brain injury association.  Without their support James would not be undertaking this event.

Their support of not only James, but also his family was invaluable in understanding and dealing with both the obvious and subtle effects of a brain injury.  Headway helps so many people who've suffered a brain injury and their families to cope, understand and rebuild their lives together.

We have had very kind sponsors to get us on the road and our thanks and gratitude goes to Matrix Fitness, Brother Printers, BP, BMW, Project 7 Racing, Dolan Bikes and Adidas which we thank for their support - without them this would only be a dream and not a reality.  Also many thanks to Justin King (CEO Sainsbury) for signing off a midnight supermarket raid so we can stock up on provisions!!

We welcome all sponsorship which raises money for a very valuable charity that helps rebuild many people’s lives.  If we ride in pain for 50 hours (hopefully less) I am sure you can help us by pledging a couple of pounds ….every penny counts.

For those interested in following our progress then please log onto Map my tracks for real time GPS tracking;  We are currently scheduled to depart Lands End at 3am on Saturday 1st October.

We very much appreciate any support you are able to give.
