BBC Children in Need
Since BBC Children in Need began we’ve raised over £740 million. Thanks to people like you, in the last year we’ve been able to help the lives of 480,000 disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. You never cease to amaze us with your generosity. This year’s Appeal is on Friday 14 November and promises to be bigger and better than ever before. By getting involved you can help us to make a difference to children who need our help the most. Our vision is that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential. We provide grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are truly disadvantaged. We are local to people in all corners of the UK and support small and large organisations which empower children and extend their life choices. Every penny from the money you raise or donate will go towards helping disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK. We are able to make this promise because we use investment income and Gift Aid to cover all running costs, meaning that you can be sure your money makes a real difference. Thank you.

Roland Directors raise over £40,000 for charity

Three directors from Roland, have completed a gruelling 926-mile charity bike ride from John O’ Groats to Land’s End in a bid to raise £40,000 for charity. The executives from the Swansea-based company, which makes instruments used by artists such as Coldplay, Take That and Rihanna, will split the money they have raised between two charities, Children in Need and Music for All, a charity dedicated to making more musicians.

This is the Three Men on a Bike team’s second charity challenge. In 2010 Tim Walter (Managing Director), Simon Griffiths (Financial Director) and Peter Heath (Business Development Director) cycled from Land’s End to London, raising over £22,000.

They had been training since January and were all in fine fettle for the ride which they completed in 10 days, cycling an average of 92.6 miles a day.

The team rose to the gruelling challenge and with support along the way from fellow music industry professionals and friends, they manage the length of the UK within the 10 days they had set. The support from family, friends, work colleagues and the general public stirred them on to push every day, knowing that it was all for a good cause.

Tim Walter commented: “The words ‘Thank you’ seem so inadequate when we have had such incredible support from so many people."
