British Red Cross
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives. The owner of this page is raising money in trust on behalf of the British Red Cross, it is the page owners responsibility to ensure that the British Red Cross is able to channell any money raised for a specific appeal or stated purpose, prior to any fundraising taking place. In the unlikely event that this dialogue has not taken place, then the British Red Cross will allocate the funds raised where ever the need is greatest in furtherence of its charitable objectives.

Run for Japan is bringing together the global running community and showing solidarity and support through dedicating runs around the World to the people of Japan.
A massive earthquake, the seventh largest recorded in history, struck the east coast of Japan on Friday the 11th of March 2011. The earthquake, measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale, triggered a tsunami which hit the east coast of Japan with 7-metre-high waves, leaving a trail of destruction.

With a death toll in the thousands, an economic cost in the billions, and the threat of nuclear meltdown imminent, the people of Japan face their greatest disaster for decades.

Inspired by Japan's great runners Run For Japan is about bringing together the global running community and showing solidarity and support through dedicating runs around the World to the people of Japan.

The challenge...

To cover 24,901 miles (right around the world) in 28 days with at least one run dedicated from every country in the World. To achieve this runners around the globe are being asked to dedicate just one run to the people of Japan and donate at least one unit of their home currency per mile run.

So, how can YOU Run for Japan?

Further details about the fundraising challenge and how you can participate can be found at http://www.runforjapan.com

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
