Charity

Useful Vision
Useful Vision is a registered charity providing accessible opportunities and activities to vision impaired children and their families, throughout the North East region. Our mission is to help children learn new skills and make new friends, reducing social isolation through increased confidence and self-esteem. The activities we organise are always designed to meet the needs of vision impaired children of all ages and abilities, whilst at the same time offering an enjoyable experience for siblings, parents and carers. As well as organising imaginative activities for families, we also provide specialist skills workshops and lessons for vision impaired children. Our skills workshops and lessons encourage vision impaired children to learn new skills and gain confidence in all aspects of their daily living and social life, promoting independence. Useful Vision also offers an informal information and advice service for families affected by a child's sight loss.

Thanks so much for finding my fundraising page. Please read on to find out more about my fundraising plans in 2017.

I am raising funds for an amazing north east charity called Useful Vision. I got to know about the charity through my role on the regional small grants panel at The Children's Foundation. I was immediately inspired when I found out about the incredible opportunities that they are giving vision impaired children.

I have a vision impaired colleague at Virgin Money of some 16 years who is a huge inspiration to me and many others. I also recently learned that another colleague's four year old daughter participates in the activities that Useful Vision offer.

Add all of those things together and the decision to raise funds for Useful Vision was a very easy one.

I'll continue to learn more and write on my blog about what Useful Vision is doing in the coming months. In the meantime, they have an excellent Facebook page and website. The annual reports on the charities commission website also make for amazing and inspirational reading.

In summary, "Useful Vision is a registered charity providing accessible opportunities and activities to vision impaired children and their families, throughout the North East region.

Once you take the time to find out more about them, I'm sure you'll agree that the work that Useful Vision is doing is absolutely amazing.

I have a few challenges to tackle in 2017 for this amazing local charity. You can follow those on www.rungeordierun.com or on my Twitter/Facebook pages (Search for Run Geordie Run).

Thanks in advance,

Mark (Run Geordie Run) :)
