Jonathan Hornby, Simon Kelly and Michael Dunn - Running Blind

The Childrens Foundation
Our vision is for the health and wellbeing of children and young people in North East England to be the best in the UK. We fund research so we can help to cure sick children and prevent them from becoming ill. We also investigate lifestyle issues which we hope will lead to better long-term outcomes for children in the region. We support NHS projects including the Great North Children's Hospital with our campaign to include the latest technology in the wards to make the time spent in hospital as comfortable and stress-free as possible for children and their families. We manage partnership projects which deliver practical, researched interventions to help children with disabilities or mental health issues and to promote the importance of child safety. We aim to make North East children and ultimately children in the UK Happy, Healthy and Safe.

Jonathan Hornby, Simon Kelly and Michael Dunn - Running Blind

My page:

Thank you for stopping by the fundraising page of Simon Kelly, Michael Dunn and Jonathan Hornby.

Simon is registered blind and has amazingly signed up to do The Great North Run in aid of The Children's Foundation

Simon will be assisted in training and during the Great North Run itself by a guide. Simon's colleagues, Michael and Jonathan, have kindly volunteered to undertake the role of his guide.

Simon does not consider himself as a natural runner (or any kind of runner for that matter!). The fact that Simon is blind is going to make this challenge even more unimaginably tougher.

The Children's Foundation is based at the RVI in Newcastle but has a huge reach right across the region and as far as Cumbria and Teeside.

Last year, The Children's Foundation, directly helped, involved or affected the lives of 29,500 children.

Simon, Michael and Jonathan are calling this challenge "Running Blind" and hope to raise as much money as they possibly can to help the charity continue its amazing work in the North East and Cumbria.
