Salisbury Samaritans
Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide. Samaritans have had a Branch in Salisbury for over 40 years. The doors are open 12 hours a day to visitors, and we aim to have two telephones manned for 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We have approximately 100 volunteers, taking over 42,000 caller contacts in a year, of which nearly 17,000 are of significant length - an average of appromiately 450 and 180 per volunteer per year respectively, well above the national average. This reflects the dedication, and hard work, of our volunteers. In addition, our speakers give presentation talks to schools, colleges, clubs and other organisations. Samaritans can be contacted by telephone, by letter, by email and by visiting the branch in Milford Street - over 95% of contacts are by telephone but email contact is growing.

Thank you for supporting our charity. We are organising our third cycle sportive ito raise money for the Samaritans of Salisbury and District on Sunday May 21st 2017 and we are expecting 800+ riders.

Please help us to get to £30,000

It costs over £36,000 per year to keep our local Samaritans branch open. It is entirely manned by volunteers providing invaluable support for those in need of emotional support, especially in the area of suicide prevention.

The Samaritans change lives

Every single day, around 16 people decide to end their own life across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Our callers talk, we listen

We don’t judge or tell people what do to

We help people to focus their feelings and to think clearly about their options

We provide support for our community

We know our service can help people before it's too late.

It's donations that keep us open
